A yes vote on next Tuesday, June 8th will stop the new regressive sales tax on labor and services in the State of Maine. With working folks losing their jobs State income tax revenues are down sharply. To benefit a few top executives and increase revenue, the legislator has passed a bill to institute a new 7 % sales tax on any service middle class families might require. You must vote to stop this new tax or it will take effect this year.Must do's like labor to fix your car, repairs to your home or appliances, property maintenance labor, plus any recreational activity you choose to take in, like fishing on our boats, playing golf, going to a ball game, the theater or movies to name just are few will be subject to a new 7 percent tax. Now the important stuff.
We had a wonderful start to the new season and a great Memorial day weekend. The mackerel arrived in large numbers on Friday and the neighborhood kids had a bang up time catching literally hundreds of them on the new Gath IV. Offshore cod fishing remains excellent as well. Stripers finally arrived hot on the tale of the mac's Pictured top of post is 10 year old Max Wilusz
with the largest striper of the weekend a nice 28 inch, 9 pounder.
We dedicated the Gath IV's 2010 season to my mom Carolyn, and we got it off to a bang Sunday evening with flowers for the ladies, and a spectacular performance by Sir Ernie Pigeon one of our areas best guitar players and seas shanties enthusiasts. "Sir Ernie" is pictured below on the fantail of "India" with Gath's guests enjoying and signing along.
We had such a good time that we hope we can do it again on the weekend of June 12th. Please let me know if you'd like a repeat performance. We also landed a few mackerel on the trip, and then were treated to some homemade cod chowder from Gloria's gram's old receipt. My buddy Franklin Davis is seen dipping into the pot for his 2nd helping.
