"Gath IV" and "India Marie" both enjoy a great weekend!

Captain Whit, Nick and Eric plied the inshore waters for Mac's and stripers this weekend, as Keith and I headed offshore in search of cod and pollock. We were rewarded with many special returning guests on all of our trips. Seth, and Todd, (Oceanview Campsite) ,Vic Brazen ( Wheels and Waves Surf Shop),good ol' Joel (Fiele' Irish Pub) and the Breeze, joined us for their first offshore trip of the season. Todd managed to outshine everyone and win the pool again with a nice 13.5 pound cod.

On Friday, we were honored with some of the best ground fishermen in New England
, Less and Linda , Jeanette and Jacky and even with these all stars we had our slowest bite of the weekend. They were joined by Jeff and Dean Lewis (PA) on their first ocean offshore. Dean a great young stream fisherman caught on fast and did very well keeping up with the experts as we still managed a good assortment of cod, pollock and haddock.

Frank Hughes and his son Conner, joined Greg Gallagher and his son Brenden, Chris and a tardy Russ Jeffries enjoyed a great day on the water Saturday. Russ was high hook as usual, but Brenden was fisherman of the day following closely behind Russ in numbers of fish. Brenden landed this super double keeper pollock catch, both fish landed on one line at the same time! ( picture top of post). The largest fish weighed in at 23.5 pounds and its mate at 12.5 pounds.

On Sunday, we enjoyed the fastest bite of the week with the Sikorsky Helicoptor boys (CT). Both Jim Delvitt and Larry Dube landed Maine State trophy haddock of over 7 pounds. Larry's is pictured here. Don's friend John, the Russian Guy! was high hook landing a cod on almost every drop. John's 20 plus pound cod won the pool for the largest fish of the day. I believe Marty Stewig (CT) enjoyed his most active day ever landing the more fish he ever has in over six years aboard the "India Marie".

I noticed that Captain Whit who left for his Saturday morning inshore trip at about the same time I did, was joined by Al Timms (MA), John Brandts( MA), Carmen(ME) and Matt Rich (VT) . It's very special to have these folks still fishing with us after all these years. A west wind slowed the striper bite on Saturday, but Sundays trip produced two nice stripers as the wind shifted to the east. A slew of Mac's and herring were caught on both trips and Whit's says all had a bang up time.

This weekend marks our tenth annual overnight trip aboard the "India Marie". We'll be leaving Friday afternoon with a great crew. I had hoped to take both boats for the first time, but a few folks canceled at the last minute and we were forced to limit our number of guests to six maximum. Sorry Eric and Brian...Whit's Gath IV will now be running it's usual half day striper trips on Saturday and I'm trying to put together our 2nd special "two hour family sing along" for Saturday evening June 20th if their is enough interest ,call for reservations (207) 337-0800.
